our philosophy

Collecting Policy

ARTvest was set up to provide a new generation of collectors with a challenging collecting experience and to encourage artists to push the boundaries of contemporary art practice. ARTvest is therefore committed to collecting contemporary work, which is provocative, subversive, challenging, and not always immediately accessible to the viewer. ARTvest is therefore very unlikely to buy either traditional art work or work that has a strongly developed secondary market.

Investment

ARTvest has intentionally not been set up principally as an investment vehicle because it is impossible to predict the future value of work acquired from young and emerging artists. However, ARTvest is committed to buying high quality work, which it believes will increase in value.

ARTvest recognises the risks of making poor purchasing decisions and is committed to minimising these and maximising the value of work by using a panel of professional advisors to approve all buying decisions.

Protecting Members’ Interests

ARTvest is committed to managing and organising the affairs of the syndicate responsibly and effectively; providing regular and clear information regarding the syndicate’s holdings, members’ contributions and all financial transactions and, above all, the adequate protection of members’ assets.  The syndicate’s activities will be carried out in strict accordance with ARTvest’s Charter document, which all ARTvest members and stakeholders are contractually bound to observe.

Minimising Costs

ARTvest is committed to maximising funds available to the artists it collects by minimising its costs. Where possible, all works will be purchased directly from the artists thereby avoiding gallery commission costs of around 40 to 50%.
